I LOVE everything coconut! I can’t think of a single way or thing that I don’t enjoy, or like about this tropical nut.
My latest obsession is fermented coconut yogurt. It’s truly the best yogurt I’ve ever eaten, as well as the healthiest.
My husband and I, REALLY like fermented foods and beverages, so this recipe has been popular around our house. Every diet should include a variety of fermented foods and drinks. I feel that it’s an essential component to optimal health.
Top Reasons to Eat Fermented Coconut Yogurt
There are several reasons that this yogurt should be added to your world!
Non-Dairy – Making it a great substitute for those who are lactose intolerant or have dairy sensitivities or allergies (which is a large percentage of the population).
Because this fermented coconut recipe is made with just two ingredients, young coconut “meat” and probiotics, in my opinion, we end up with a much superior yogurt than anything you can buy from your local grocery or health food store.
No Added Sugar or Artificial Sweeteners.
No Artificial Preservatives, Food Colorings, or Flavorings.
Loaded with LIVE, Beneficial Bacteria – friendly bacteria help to establish a healthy gut wall flora and promote general health and well-being.
Burn Fat & Support a Healthy Thyroid – The medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) found in coconuts help aid in a healthy functioning thyroid, which boosts your metabolism and promotes fat brining.
Recipe: Super Delicious Fermented Coconut Yogurt
- Don’t Throw Out the Coconut Water!
- Coconut water is a great way to hydrate your body! It’s full of electrolytes, which makes it an excellent pre-workout and/or post workout beverage. Drink it as is, or use it as the liquid base of a smoothie.
Ingredients:
- 4 Young Thai Coconuts (organic)
- 1 Probiotic Capsule
Directions:
- Open up the coconuts*. Use a spoon to scoop out the meat. Make sure to scrape off any husk that may be on the coconut meat – a knife works well for this.
- Add the coconut meat to a blender. Empty the contents of the probiotic capsule into the blender.
- Blend ingredients together until smooth. Transfer to a glass jar and cover loosely with a cheesecloth or other breathable fabric.
- Place in a warm area, but not in direct sunlight. Let ferment for 12 hours. Taste it. IF it has reached a desired sourness then stick it in the refrigerator. This will slow down the fermentation process, and maintain the flavor profile you like.
- You can skip the refrigeration step and eat your yogurt right away, if you like. It just depends if you like your yogurt at room temperature or chilled.

Enjoy!
