Drinking a cup of coffee before exercising is not the only way that you can boost your metabolism and increase fat burning.

I usually have a large cup of Yerba Mate tea about 30 minutes before I workout. I’ve found it to be helpful in maintaining a lean body. Yerba Mate has specific polyphenols and phytochemicals that regulate fat metabolism.

Herbal teas not only hydrate your body, but they also provide a rich source of antioxidants, and other health promoting benefits such as lowering your cholesterol and blood pressure.

Since I’ve been drinking Yerba Mate I’ve also noticed a difference in my exercise performance. I’m able to push my mind and body through more intensive workouts.

I usually drink my Yerba Mate tea plain or sweeten it with a couple drops of liquid stevia. I really like the flavor combination of  Yerba Mate and Food For The Immortals Butterscotch Toffee Stevia. I usually get this stevia from Longevity Warehouse (great place to get high quality superfoods), but I don’t think they carry it anymore. So sad! But, I found a butterscotch toffee liquid stevia made by Omica Organics, so I’ll probably give that a try.

Oh and, this tea tastes good hot or chilled. Whatever you prefer!
