It seems like there’s never enough time in a day to get everything done. We rush out the door first thing in the morning, and when we get home we are exhausted.

How can we possibly have the time to exercise?

We all know that exercise is an important part of being healthy. But, do you know why?

If time is what is holding you back from getting your daily dose of exercise, you may find these tips helpful.

  1. You don’t have to go to the gym to get a workout in. There are many fitness programs that you can do in the comfort of your own home. This will save you the time it takes to drive to and from the gym.
  1. Wake up an hour earlier everyday, so you can squeeze a workout in.
  1. Join a dance class, go hiking, take swimming lessons, go skiing, do whatever it is you like to do that involves physical movement.
  1. Find a walking buddy that you can go on walks with a couple times a week before or after work.
  1. Keeping up with household chores is another physical activity that burns calories. For example, make it a habit to vacuum and wash the kitchen floor at least once a week.
  1. Take your dog on regular walks. You’ll both benefit from this!
  1. During your lunch break go on a walk or walk to lunch instead of driving.
  1. Whenever possible, take the stairs instead of the elevator.
  1. Park on the far end of the parking lot.
  1. If you have an office job, try standing while you’re talking on the phone.
  1. When you have 5 minutes to spare, try jogging in place for 1 minute, then do 1 minute of jumping jacks, then drop down and do 10 push ups, then roll over onto your back and do crunches for 1 minute, and end with 1 minute of jogging in place.
