If you’re like me, then you’re the type of person who likes to maximize the time you spend working out. I really enjoy exercising, but there’s only so much time in a day!

Which is why, I design the majority of my workouts in a superset style format.

Supersets will Save You Time at the Gym - Sophisticated Booty

What is a Superset?

A superset is a pair of exercises that are preformed together without rest.

How Supersets Save Time at the Gym (or during a Workout)

Supersets save time because they allow for active recovery (depending on what exercises you pair together). In active recovery, one muscle group is working while the other is resting.

Supersetting opposing muscle groups is a great way to implement the concept of active recovery. An example of this would be pairing biceps curls with triceps extensions. You can also work completely separate muscle groups. For instancle, pairing an upper body exercise with a lower body exercise. Like bench press followed by squats.

Supersets can also be used as an effective way to target and “burn out” a specific muscle or group of muscles. So, let’s say you want to focus on your booty. Simply pair two exercises that target your glutes. For example, hip thrusts and sumo squats.

Note: This approach does not utilize the idea of active recovery, but you’ll still save time. It all depends on what you’re trying to accomplish. I’d suggest trying both methods. Figure out ways that you can include both into your fitness regime.

Other Benefits of Supersets

Supersetting will not only save you time, but you’ll also get more done! It’s an effective and efficient way to workout!

Supersets keep your heart rate elevated. This will help improve both strength and endurance.

Supersets increase the overall intensity of your workout. Thus, maximizing your results.

Best of Health!
