I used to spend twenty dollars on a tiny 8 oz. bottle of hair conditioner. Looking back on this, it seems ridiculous (and stupid)!

Paying top dollar for a bottle of toxic chemicals. There’s no way that I’d even consider such a thing, nowadays.

Over the years, I’ve come to realize the importance of minimizing the toxicity in my life. It really is an essential part of living a healthy lifestyle (and an area commonly overlooked). And, in my opinion, I don’t really think attaining optimal health is a possibility, if we don’t clean up our lifestyle.

And, this really isn’t that complicated. We just need to educate ourselves, so that we are aware of where and how we are letting toxicity into our lives. Then we can make more informed, health conscious decisions.

  • Ingredients to Avoid in Hair Products
  • Sodium laurel / laureth sulfate (SLS), also known as sodium lauryl sulfate – causes dry hair
  • Isopropyl alcohol – causes hair to break
  • Proplyene glycol (PG) – causes scalp irritation
  • Polyethylene Glyco or PEG– makes hair brittle

For example, when you realize that most commercial  conditioners (and hair care products) aren’t the best choice for your hair (or health), you’ll most likely want to upgrade to a non-toxic, natural option.

Oh, and just because a product is labeled “organic” or “natural” doesn’t mean it’s free of harmful chemical ingredients like preservatives, fragrances, thickening agents, and other toxic additives. So, watch out!

Lately, I’m really loving, aloe vera gel, as a hair conditioner!

It’s natural.

It’s an effective treatment for stimulating hair growth and regrowth (in cases of baldness, alopecia).
